"This is a crucial moment in our history...
not only in Burmese history
but also in the history of the world"
We must take action to grab this chance to take back our dignity and bring the promising hope of a democratic land to our country.
As we all have been following, the movements of our monks have picked up momentum to new heights never achieved before. They are now being heard and the world is listening. We should amplify these voices, and that is our goal as National Burma Action Committee NY, to do so. I speak on behalf of the organization, and on behalf of all the Burmese pro-democratic organizations here in the US and around the world. I urge us to be one voice that will intensify the pleading of our people back home. I also urge all other nations, let us unite as citizens of the world in support for the courageous movement put forth by the holy Buddhist leaders.
The long and treacherous suppression of the militant government must stop!
We should not let all the enduring efforts of our monks go without any avail and in vain.
The merciless are now prepared to use force and have now begun using their violent weapons to keep us imprisoned in our own land. I am calling that with the eyes of the powers of the world now watching these events closely, as though they are the guardians of humanity, we should feel strengthened to continue on with the momentum of righteousness .
I urge for your support, I urge for your strength, I urge you to continue and to join us, I urge you to help exponentiate the movement. Let us use this opportunity to change history and bring the freedom that is long overdue in Burma. Let us take down the evil axis of power.
Mark these days as the beginning of a new era. Allow our country to once again be free and the simple lives our people chose to live to be once more be filled with freedom and without fear.
What can we do? What must we do?
As president of the National Burma Action Committee, I am proud to issue this statement on behalf of our people.
1) We strongly support this protest led by the Monks (Thanga) and there is no better time than now. This is the right step to take, this is the only direction, this is the perfect opportunity.
2) The protest is not only for the present economic crisis but for the hardship that has been a result of decades of oppression. WE MUST FIGHT BACK FOR DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM, HUMAN RIGHTS, AND JUSTICE that we have lost for a long time.
3) This movement is long overdue, and we will not get another chance such as this made possible by the Monks (Thanga). THEY HAVE INITIATED IT, WE THE PEOPLE MUST COMPLETE IT!!!
4) We strongly urge all Ministry departments such as hospitals and health workers, all doctors, all lawyers, judges of justice department, all teachers and students, Ministry of Education to support our monks and participate by stopping your services to the military ruler. Shut the government down in order to build democracy and freedom.
5) To all Monks (Thanga) including the ABMA (All Burma Monks Alliance), we guarantee you our organization’s support. We have gathered in your strength and will participate in this movement. We also urge the UN, US, UK, other EU and ASEAN nations to join in an international alliance to support and fulfill our efforts for a free Burma.
6) Our organization and our people will not allow the military to do any harm or to use force on the Monks (Thanga) whom any disciplined Buddhist should hold in the highest regard.
7) THIS IS NOW the time to invite the great powers of the world, the industrialized nations, the civilized nations, the disciples of humanity, as our guardians who have been examples of a true democratic governance to their people, to intervene and to send UN peacekeepers, to relinquish the military, and to help rebuild the once great Asian nation of Burma, rich with natural resources and a peaceful culture to which the world has been hidden from for half a century.
a. WE must protect the people and our monks from the violence that will come.
b. The ruthless government in Burma have now began to deploy their guns of terror!!
c. We MUST provide the necessary defense to the monks and the people, who must not give up, and who must not be suppressed, and most importantly, from being killed by the military.
d. We cannot forget the events of 8.8.88 when the military gunned down more than 3000 people. They are ruthless and have the potential for such crimes once more. WE MUST PREVENT THIS FROM REOCCURRING!!!
e. The military government with their backs to the wall, and their actions being watched closely by the world will now feel that there is little choice for them. They will resort to a “kill or be killed” mentality and will therefore murder the protestors as their means of control.
f. I URGE for UN Peacekeepers to move in and remove the military and to leave an interim government while helping to build democracy in Burma. We NEED YOUR HELP!!! in guiding us to become a free and democratic nation
TO the MILITARY RULERS –
a. We believe that the military is not consisted of one mentality. We know there are few personnel who are sympathetic to our plight, and who want to protect and stand by the people. We know there are some of you who are good-willed and who do not wish to follow the evil leadership.
b. We welcome those soldiers and leaders who wish to bring about this change. We will happily accept this group and will respectfully stand side by side in accordance for our cause.
c. WE do not believe that democracy can be built with guns or arms force. The definition of democracy is totally opposite to authoritative weapons (guns). Democracy serves as a symbol of the people’s power, the people of the nation, the population as a whole. Therefore, we strongly urge the military group to surrender the weapons and to build democracy. Return our land to us.
It is now time for the government to drop their weapons, we want freedom!!!
“DEMOCRACY CANNOT BE BUILT BY GUNS”
2) Surrender your weapons!!!
3) JOIN Thanga IN buildING A genuine democracy
4) Shut the Government down by stopping all services in every minsitry
5) Respect democracy, freedom, human rights, and justice
6) UN and the International Alliance should intervene NOW!!!
7) Keep the movement going and together our efforts will grow stronger until we pummel the military government into the ground!!!
NBACNY supports the current movement in BURMA!!!
LET US TAKE BACK OUR LAND!!!
